Design Process

I think it’s healthy to talk about what we actually go through when we design. I read an articles by Douglass Bowman and how he goes through his process and I find that I really admire his dedication. I find a lot of similarities in the way we design.

Personally, I’m more of an analytical person than a creative person. So a step by step process for me is a must. Usually I just get whatever HTML stuff I can out of the way then hack away at my CSS. Haven’t gotten much further into the background and actual visual design. But it excites me to think of the possibilities.

  1. You’re right he’s very dedicated, I’m not sure I would ever be that structured in my process. I’m more of a design person, I have to have background, graphics whatever in anything I do. I’m big on making things pretty. But I also have a bit of an analytical mind as well because I have to make lists for everything and the whole idea of a step by step process for designing websites appeals to me. That way I won’t forget anything.

  2. dude i have no clue who this is our are talking about. Was this a class assignment? ALso good work on that site your brought to class. Is that going to be your final one for the class or are you going to come up with some more layouts?

You seem to have a little bit of a head start on this web design stuff. Could you try to explain some of the 2.0 article terms like DHTML and AJAX and some of that or do you know anything about that?

I think it’s crazy that your analytical before the art mumbo jumbo and be aware of it. That’s awesome. I had to be taught that i was also analytical to understand art and what it was about .
